How do Cibies stack up to these newer options? I bought some a while back to swap in if i ever get my 60 back on the road and at the time they were supposedly the bee's knees.
A few years ago I went to the Upullit and harvested a bunch of fuses, nuts, bolts, screws, etc from Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissans. Got about a gallon bucket of stuff for like $5, and it all looked practically new.
Those look pretty nice. Wish they came in a dark brown, although I guess you could get them painted/coated in whatever color you want. Wonder if you can buy them in bare aluminum?
It seems the length would be the only real issue; if a V8 fits then no way the width would be a problem. Height could be I guess--how much taller is it? I know the sump would need to be reversed but it seems that's not a major issue.
I've got zero need or desire for massive power, but I'm sure it would be an easier install/swap all the way around being as it's a similar sized I6. Honestly surprised it's not a fairly common swap. If I can find a good way to mate it to the H55 that's likely the route I'll go when the time comes.
Having owned a couple of Trailblazers/Envoys with this engine I think it's a fantastic option. Plenty of power and a very broad and flat torque curve; it moved the heavier Trailblazer just fine imo.
If you like cast iron but want to save a little weight try a good carbon steel pan. Many of the same properties as cast iron but lighter and arguably even more durable
