Trip, Expedition and Meet-up Notices Only

I'd be interested in attending. I don't have the FJ40 any more, but would enjoy seeing everyone else's toys.

    PTO Winch

Bear with me as I figure out what I've actually got here. In looking at other listings here, I realize the "accessory" parts that go with the winch head and drive shaft were already installed on the Cruiser and sold with it. Since they are already on the Cruiser, my first priority is to make...

    What did he do?

Latest and likely last update: Sir has found a new owner with Jeff's cousin who is able to give him the TLC needed. I'm selling the PTO winch that never got installed on the vehicle. We miss our periodic outings.

Driving lessons. Hard to believe she was 8 years old the last time she rode in the mountains with her dad in this vehicle. He would be proud. No changes have been made to the vehicle. We continue to pull it out of the garage and drive it periodically. The windows on the soft top are...

    What did he do?

Happy day! There was a spare igniter in "inventory". Sir ran this evening. We need to find a more appropriate power source for the wire that shorted, but are well on our way to enjoying a ride. :) Thanks for the help.

    What did he do?

Thanks for the help. Looks like a wire going to the fuel cut-off solenoid rubbed bare and shorted out. It got its power from the same wire that was feeding the ignitor. The ignitor and coil are fried. The ignition is stock. What about using a conversion kit such as a Mallory kit to make it...

    What did he do?

Sir has been sitting somewhat ignored for a while due to a broken elbow and inability to drive him. Elbow is healed sufficiently to drive Sir again, but discovered the drained battery was likely due to an electrical problem. There was a char broiled wire coming out of the coil. I had a mechanic...

Simple and logical. Thank you. I'll get one.

    What did he do?

Last time I had Sir out he behaved very poorly. It was an unseasonably warm day in late Sept as I recall. He was sounding smooth, running well. But every time I let off the accelerator to come to a stop, he would stall. He would start right up again and run smooth when asked and kept running...

    What did he do?

I guess there's been some wondering going on about the current state of affairs for my green machine. :) It's still in my garage, tucked away out of the weather. I got INCREDIBLE assistance from Dan and Aaron! Dan put that loose bolt on the alternator and told me all about what I had. But-...

To Omaha and Lincoln NE area 80s owners

HUGE thank you to Aaron!!! He has been a wonderful neighbor and tremendous help! Planning to attend the meet Oct 16 with my FJ40. Scratched the plans to sell it.

    shifting w/o clutch

We did it pulling a Scamp behind us over a mountain pass. Much better than waiting 3 days for someone to help us out. It's best to figure out what gear you will want to be in before starting up a hill, but it all worked out. I don't recall a discussion to just leave it that way though...

    What did he do?

If you haven't looked through the category "Purely Entertainment" on my blog, you will find several more WY stories there. I love the mountains. It was good to go back. And my son wanted to know why we hadn't driven the Cruiser there..... about 750 miles one way. Hmmm...

    What did he do?

So ...I was planning to sell the Cruiser. (Gasp!) I'm not a big treasure keeper and I feel entirely inadequate at keeping up the Cruiser. It has always had frequent tinkering- so I figure it NEEDS frequent tinkering- and I don't know how to tinker. My son has never shown any interest in it...
