What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

Both original stock headlights lost their seal and were building up heavy condensation inside. Replaced with DEPO lights from @ranma21. Thanks Ian!

WHY DID YOU... BUY YOUR HUNDY?

I'm not a stranger to Toyo 4x4's having owned an 82 and 83 hilux, 88 4Runner, and 96 Taco but I was actually in the market for a 2004 LR Discovery 2 and just happened to come across a low mileage single owner all dealer maintained 1998 LC. I ended up paying near KBB high at the time. Today I...

Ticking time bomb TICK TICK TICK: Spark plugs Alert Alert Alert!

Good tip. I just got around to doing my plugs last week at 116k. #8 got stuck and would not come out but after shooting it with some penetrating lube and letting it sit for about 30 minutes it finally loosened. I'll be checking them in 25k to see if they've loosened and maybe during oil...

Hood and lift gate struts, where to buy?

I am on my 3rd set of hood lifts since 2009. First set was from Checker and lasted a few years. Second set I got Strong Arm and those lasted less than a year. I just ordered a set of Monroes (Part # 901658) from Rock Auto. So far they feel the strongest of the three (as far as lift assist).

    Third brake light removal

Somehow the lens of my third brake light cracked in half and I got a replacement off ebay. I've used the search but it hasn't been helpful besides remove the two 10mm nuts (done) and unplug the harness. I cannot figure out where to unplug the harness.. the wire runs into the the upper door...

Optima Yellow Top Battery Damaging Toyota Alternator?

I've had mechanics tell met this.. that the autozone battery (I had to don't judge me I was in a bind) I bought is the cause of my alternator going bad and I should buy his Interstate. I asked my electrical engineer brother and he basically said the same thing and Simplespirit.

DIY: Replacing heater hose pipe T's *important*

Changed out my T's with OEM replacements this weekend on my 98 at 110k miles. Not a hard job but not exactly easy. A mini channel lock plier was my savior as it let me get to the tabs on the clips at some very awkward angles. I would recommend this tool to anyone doing the job. The cooler...

    Recommended Highway / All-Season Tires ?

I'm currently rocking General Grabber HTS and I like them. I have about 8k on them and they still look new and are running quiet. They are very similar to the yokohama geolander h/t. Although I think the generals might be discontinued you might be able to find some online. I would not...

Procedure for replacing 100 series(98 and up) starter contacts

My 98 LC has started exhibiting this issue at 102k. Unfortunately I just moved to Dallas alone and my tools are scattered and I got rid of my 2nd vehicle so I'll most likely be taking this into a shop. I got one quote today for $850 from an independent napa shop with a 2 year 24k warranty on...

Electrical gremlins.. looking for a place to start troubleshooting

Thanks guys I'll have a look see starting with the passenger side area and fuses. I poked around there for a minute this morning before work but it was bone dry. My ac cond drain hose is plugged up so the water drips back into the passenger footwell but I am confident that's not the cause...

Electrical gremlins.. looking for a place to start troubleshooting

Hey all, So this happened to me last night. Looking for suggestions on where to start to look. Note that it has been raining heavily (for southern california) the past couple days. I'm driving on the freeway when the AT Temp light and Brake light slowly light up, then go away, then light up...
