I removed the racks purely out of fear that there might be rust under there, there wasn't but I like it without em. As far as temps go they should decrease the farther you move the body from the heat source.
Nothing out of the ordinary really, just a bunch of nuts and bolts. Kind of a pain in the ass doing it by yourself but I needed some extra room for the 37's. I do hate the bumper gap so I guess I need to get off my butt and make some plate bumpers. For the radiator brackets I basically just put...
The starter contacts will only cure half the problem and that's the clicking instead of starting. The starter running while the engine is running and the engine running with the key off are common symptoms of a bad ignition switch.
So I've been doing a little bit of reading and stop me if I'm off base but it seems that the 4.5L is rated at 275ft/lbs and most road 4bt's are in the 265-340 ft/lb range unless they've been turned up. So is there any real concern of a stock or slightly turned up 4cyl diesel toasting these trans...
There have to be at least a handful of A343's out there living behind turbo or s/c 4.5's, I wonder how well they're holding up? I imagine the conditions would be very similar to those behind many of these diesels.
Really, I haven't been able to locate those adapters. Could you shoot me a pm with that info? I guess at this point I'm still weighing options but auto is my first choice as a 5spd would exclude my wife from driving the cruiser.
I would love to keep the auto, not real crazy about the thought of using a compushift unit. What do you think it would take to adapt an NV4500 to the LC transfer case, assuming the auto isn't up to the task?
I'm quite interested in seeing the outcome of your research as I'd like to retain an auto trans when I swap in a cummins but unless you guys prove otherwise I don't have faith in the toy trans living for any period of time behind a diesel. I've pretty much come to grips with the fact that I'm...
