The dude at Renaissance Auto in Cary who's gonna end up doing this swap for me said he's used a few of the JDM imported motors before and always had very good luck. Fingers crossed.

Seems like we're both victims of lazy mechanics not torquing things to spec. Kinda wild we both had this happen in NC based LC200s in the same time frame, haha.
