I think you'd be amazed how much better many of the lift kits make your FJ ride. I have a Toytech lift on mine - essentially it's a old man emu front w/ custom coils in the back. It truly handles better than the stock. There are many lifts to choose from. All Pro coilovers Toytech lift...

Great looking ride. A few things to consider. Adding any after market bumper will add weight to your FJ's front end. Without stiffer coils or coil overs offered by the after market lifts you'd get a lot of sag on the front end, especially over time. Consider getting a low lift 2.5" that way...
