It sounds like you have an aftermarket lift kit, and aren't running AHC anymore. Non-AHC OEM shocks will work fine for you.

Installed Nolathane 30mm REV170.0008 rear spring spacers ($34.57/pair when I bought them)
This video made it look WAAAY easy... and it was. Remove the lower "shock" mount, and remove/release the sway bar.
Brought my rear AHC pressure right back to spec. Ride is noticeably smoother.
If you look at the first picture in post 16, you'll see that it's not just that the body-side holes aren't the same. The 200 series body side arm is much longer thus you can't just swap hinges. It'd require basic fabrication (cutting and welding). Whether it's easier/better to cut the body...

When you say "can it be saved", define "saved". Because yes you can totally restore that for a ton of money/time, or you could just enjoy it.

On my 2000, install was not bad. Like 2-3 hours! Much easier than the “can’t be done with the rack in the vehicle” crowd would lead you to believe.

Steering rack mount bushings. Out with the old, in with the new. I used Nolathane. Noticeably firmer than 22yr old stock (but I have no comparison to new OEM). Firmed up the steering beautifully.
