If it's running and revving fine in reverse then you have wires shorting out in the main wiring loom where it passes by the engine. When in a forward gear the engine torques and puts pressure on the loom causing a short. It doesn't torque in reverse. The loom runs close to the engine and, over...

I have added a Vibrant resonator and flex pipe to my EMS (Exhaust Made s***ty) system. The quality of the Vibrant parts are on a totally different level. I have also added rubber exhaust hangers to replace the EMS hangers. Slowly buy surely I am getting a system that I can live with.
Mine is outside at the front of the sunroof. I ran the wire up the A pillar and peeled back the trim around the headliner to pull it through to the sunroof. Fast and easy install and it's been there for about 10 years. The magnet is pretty strong and doesn't move even through some pretty thick...
I'm not sure whether there is a difference between the plugs. I need the rear one if there is a difference. As far as I can tell the plugs are not stocked--they are part of the loom.
Hey Phoenix Area Mudders,
I'm heading to Phoenix today and leaving next Wednesday. I have a '96 80 series. If you are parting out a 95 - 97 (not sure if the 93 - 94s are compatible?) and have a plug to sell I would like to get in touch.
Thanks, Greg
I'm thinking of buying a front bumper from Jason at Cruisin Off Road. He lives in Abby, I'm in Squamish and I'd like to have a look at his work before I commit to buy. If you have one, or know of someone that does, you live in Van or close by, and you wouldn't mind me a having a look at it...
I've been out of cell range for a couple of days so I haven't kept up with this thread.
I think that the flex sections serve a purpose other than cosmetic. They isolate the exhaust from engine vibration and torquing. The Vibrant flex sections look better than the EMS flex sections so...
I bought the Vibrant flex sections from Summit Racing: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/vpe-60604/overview/
I added a Vibrant resonator shortly after installing the EMS system. The resonator made a big difference and it's still shiny (unlike the rest of the EMS stuff).
Interesting! How many times have you replaced the gaskets, how many miles are you getting per set and are they OEM?
I had my EMS exhaust off yesterday and replaced the flex sections that had totally disintegrated after 2 winters and a whopping 8k miles. I reused the gaskets but I was surprised...
If it runs in reverse then the problem is the main wiring loom that runs beside the engine. When you shift to Drive the engine torques putting tension on the loom causing a short. When you put it in reverse there is no tension on the loom and it runs fine. With the engine running and the trans...
I've owned my '96 for 11 years and 100k. I have not done the head gasket. I maintain the cooling system and, in particular, I keep a close eye on the fan clutch.
POR - 15 More expensive but, if you follow their prep instructions, you have a permanent solution. I'm a believer--my first experience with POR was painting the trailer hitch. I did no prep--just a quick pass with a wire brush to remove the loose flaky rust and then 2 coats of black paint. That...
