Thud/Thunk - Front Driveline When Coming to a Stop*

Be careful overfilling the front driveshaft slip joint, or pull the zerk fitting after filling and drive around the block to let the excess ooze out. There is a theory (not mine) that the hydraulic pressure from packing grease in the front slip puts pressure on the front pinion. Thus causing...

    Crankshaft Destroyed?

I know this is Monday morning quarterback, and I am not encouraging ANYONE to us this screw technique. (Even though it is all over the internet) The screw cannot bite into the metal collar embedded in the perimeter of the seal. So it deflect to the inner rubber section causing the above. You...

    OEM toyota brake fluid

Just did a total brake fluid flush this weekend. I flushed the majority of the system with regular (non-Toyota) DOT-3. I used 64 ounces to flush, and the last sixteen ounces added to the MC was BOSCH ESI6 5.1. It is supposed to have better low temp viscosity, and more resistance to moisture. I...

Quiet down my DT Cat Back

The three that get thrown around are Revel (304 stainless), BRExhaust (aluminized steel), and Northeastern (409 stainless). These balance price and quality, but there are also Ansa, Walker, and AP but you are talking crush bends and VERY cheap muffler shop quality. I am in the market after...

Axle replace / CV Boot question

AI is ruining customer service interactions. A dealer will never re-boot a CV axle, and if they did the labor would make the total job just as expensive. Work on your own rig, or pay the dealer tax.

No success with the Te1 to E1 diagnostic trick

That diagnostic port jumper shows brake and traction codes. It does not display check engine codes like the old OBDI system. Now if your ABS and traction control lights are on it will tell you by code if it is a wheel speed sensor, brake light, etc. However, it does not give a code for let's say...
