so update on this situation. Medium settings stopped working again. Removed AC amplifier and cleaned contacts. Still not working. Ordered a used AC amplifier and put it in. Still not working. So unless both amplifiers were bad, doesn’t appear to be the amplifier.

It seems like the typical setup is all speeds go through the resistor except high. It’s a pretty common issue with all kinds of makes and models. There’s a couple other examples on here of it being the resistor. I figured I would change it out and see, but can’t seem to find the part anywhere...

Hmm, the FSM shows a blower motor resistor that screws into the side of the cooling unit. I found this picture from another tread that appears to be the part that corresponds with spot in the FSM.

97 lx450. Used to be in my sig line. Guess it got deleted.

I guess now the trick is to find the part. Appears to be another unobtainable.

My AC only runs on high. Sounds like a common issue when the AC blower resistor goes bad. Looks like the cooling unit has to come partially out to get to the screws for that resistor. Do you have to discharge the refrigerant from the system in order to take the cooling unit out?

I’m waiting for it to get cooler to see if mine goes away. It did last year. If that’s is the case, not sure what would cause that. Only thing I can think of that might be affected by ambient temperature is grease in the tie rod end. I can grab the tie rod with my hand and rotate it and it...

So thanks for the write-up, but add my name to the list of people who’ve replaced the ignition switch and didn’t fix the intermittent start issue. I thought ignition switch because after no start, if I move the key around as I turned it to start sometimes it would seem to hit right and start up...

I’m having this same issue with the window coming of the channel periodically. I was trying to figure out if there’s another way to fix this without replacing a bunch of stuff. Motor works fine.

Just to confirm, that’s the part number for a 1997. When I put it into my online source, I get a “part doesn’t fit your vehicle” response.

Anyone have a part number for the whole ignition switch assembly? What I’m looking at online just looks like a portion of the switch assembly.
