Just a follow up, I had serious tears in both cv boots I noticed when changing brakes. I ended up bringing the truck to my local dealer as it is my daily driver and needed a quick solution. I decided to have them change the cv axles with reman units and put on oem boot kit, It was about $900...

Is there a source for an axle boot replacement kit with the clamps grease etc? Also where is the best place to get axles themselves? I've got a torn boot and not sure of the condition of the axle itself. Thanks in advance.

So it sounds like the springs from a newer fj cruiser would work in a gx as well in talking about the fj built on the 150 platform. But I've been told that the rear shocks won't bolt up is this true. I can't compare the lx to the gx, but I have a 99 lc and a 2007 gx. The biggest difference to me that makes me choose the lc is the cabin feel it's much more spacious and your driving dynamics are far superior. Meaning sight lines and angles and what not.
