looks like i'm going to have to bring the 40 instead of sams 55. decided it made more sense for him to drive his 55 back to casper so he only has to get his pu back there. his trailer hauler lost the transmission, friggin 10 speed gm...
I could see that, out here in the west we don't often get wet and muddy... at least not like when I lived in the south. I find I am mostly popping people out of the snow with mine in Montana. I think we'll get it running and leave it on there...
Took the Hotsy to the Pig yesterday. Nearly ruined my driveway. Lots of grease and lot of tar like grunge came off of it. Frame is in excellent condition. Grease and grime can’t hang on when the Hotsy gets up to 220*. It’s my second favorite...
I am thinking the same thing. We want a solid driver at the end of the year.
Looking to go through the axles, suspension and steering this semester and give the kids (4 teams of 3 students each) a corner of the rig and let them rebuild the...
lots more moving parts on S cam drum brakes than disc
no need for greasing, no rocks getting stuck in drums, disc are simple versus drum on big trucks.
drums still work well, 65% of our fleet is still drum, but disc is coming in with all new trucks
most new semis and large trucks are running disc brakes and have for the last 15+ years, you can still get trucks with drums, all depends on how it is ordered
disc brakes are even on trailers now adays
it takes longer to remove the tires than it...
As a matter of fact the s cam air drum brakes in a big rig haven't changed design in 70 years. Maybe longer than that.
No exotic materials only steel and pig iron.
Fantastic!!! I love it.
Good to see your name in here Drew.
How long ago did you move to MT?
That Pig looks pretty darn good.
I am sure you can figure out the cluster.
That rear bumper looks scary! I know @Bump It Offroad has a sweet rear bumper...
yea...big rigs have drums....made of 2025 tech and materials
stock looking driver:
Discs
4 speed
new windshield
pull drivetrain and install all new gaskets......if it starts to get driven more.....its gonna leak everywhere
new shocks
new tires...
NIce pig.
I would recommend getting rid of that 3 speed. A 4 speed won't do anything for your highway speeds/rpms because both have a 1:1 top gear. But, having a synchronized 1st gear is very nice on the 4 speed.
The argument for a disc...
