My home made portable winch system.

It's pretty heavy. No way to go light with these and be portable. I'd say the winch mounted on the plate is 150lbs. There are pieces of solid bar stock that are under the winch to allow the motor and ground wire to clear on that side.

My home made portable winch system.

Thanks, the hitches themselves arent welded on the frame horns. There is a metal plate welded across the frame and the hitches welded to that. I just spaced them to be welded to the plate directly under the frame horns. Then supports are welded on the sides in several places. Also welded 2 bars...

My home made portable winch system.

There are several supports welded all around.I just couldn't get the camera right to get more underside pics. The guy who welded it said it would rip the truck apart before it gave. I rarely use a winch but I did get a call a couple weeks ago where a buddy was stuck. He was at their deer...

My home made portable winch system.

Bought a Husky 10 back in January. I couldn't afford a winch bumper so I decided to have portable system made. Instead of one male receiver,I decided to make it using two welded on each frame horn.. Figured this might help with side pulls. It also fits in my tool box. It isn't light but I can...

Need help with Husky 10 winch

I'll post pics in a couple days to show how I mounted it. I made it portable. I had a plate fabricated with two male receiver hitches welded to it. Bolted the winch on it with Grade 8 bolts.I then had two female receiver hitches welded to a plate on the frame horns. The winch will actually fit...

Need help with Husky 10 winch

It was the ground on the motor. Hooked a wire up and it runs like a champ. I'm watching craiglist now but it seems I'm gonna have to fabricate a winch mount. The mounting holes are not the traditional 4.5 by 10. Gonna have to make some spacers due to the motor sitting slightly lower on the one...

Need help with Husky 10 winch

Well,I contacted Superwinch. They advise it has to be grounded under the motor also. I'll try that when I get off work. I may have gotten a better deal than I thought. Can anyone recommend a push bar type winch bumper? I'm wanting to put this on a 99 GMC Z71 but bumpers are 1-2000 dollars. Is...

Need help with Husky 10 winch

I recently purchased a Superwinch Husky 10 off craiglist. The seller bought a truck and it was on it. He sold the truck and just cut the wiring and took the winch off. He never used it but said when it was cut off they rolled a battery jumper over, attached it to the cut leads and rolled the...
