FJ60 not starting, but will run with bump start - gas smell, new plugs

Thank you. I don’t think I pumped gas but maybe did out of habit. Carb fan was definitely on when we went to start it again.

Nope, wont start with choke or no choke. I’ll check fuel solenoid.

FJ60 not starting, but will run with bump start - gas smell, new plugs

Not yet. Would this cause problems while running, or just when starting? Because it ran normally when we bumped it

I checked that. Level right in the middle of sight glass. Engine will run, it just won’t start

FJ60 not starting, but will run with bump start - gas smell, new plugs

Hey all, Having some starting trouble. Earlier, drove the car to town and it was totally fine. Turned it off for 45 seconds - as much time as it takes to run up to a porch - and when I got back, wouldn't start. Got it started by bumping it down the hill, and it ran totally fine all the way...

FJ60 Clutch slave cylinder bleed & adjust

Howdy all, Planning to replace the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder tomorrow. Got a few questions. Order of operations, I was thinking replace slave cylinder first, then bench bleed master cylinder and replace, then bleed the whole system. Is that wise? Or should I replace clutch...

FJ60 won’t shift, no clutch pressure

Alright finally updating here. Tried adjusting the slave as much as it would go. Clutch pedal would build pressure when pumped a few times, but then fluid started bubbling out of the master cylinder lid and it still wouldn't go into gear. Any ideas?

FJ60 won’t shift, no clutch pressure

Just checked all that. Plenty of fluid in master reservoir. Can hear it sloshing a bit when clutch is pressed. No visible leaks in hydraulic lines. Slave piston moves when clutch is pressed. The rubber boot at the end of slave cylinder is loose/torn? and appears to have some fresh fluid on...

FJ60 won’t shift, no clutch pressure

Hi all, Having some clutch troubles it seems. Made it about 100 feet down the road this morning and it was really difficult to shift. Had to really push the knob into gear. Stopped at a stop sign and then it wouldn’t go into gear at all, even with clutch pressed. With the truck off, it’ll...

FJ60 overheating after new water pump

Hmm well she's only owned it for a few months, and it wasn't running until shortly before she bought it. So definitely not in tip-top shape, but seemed to be running quite well. Took it on numerous camping trips without any issues. What would running cold like that indicate? is that a symptom...

FJ60 overheating after new water pump

Old rad cap was indeed pretty cracked and dried out in there. Got a new one that fits, psi on the spring might be a bit higher though. Did as you said, drove her around the block a few times and now she's tucked in to sleep. Will report back. Also noticed after our drive that the thermostat hose...

FJ60 overheating after new water pump

Alright, an update: When I went out to the truck, the overflow was very low, so added some more coolant to that. Started the truck with the radiator cap off and let it run for a few minutes. No bubbles out of the radiator, so put the cap back on. Kept an eye on temp gauge and it was slowly...

FJ60 overheating after new water pump

Thanks for this, hope indeed! I'm guessing this 'false reading' is what would lead it to say it's getting too hot when it's idling? Because it definitely did actually overheat after we drove it, likely do to a lack of coolant? Will try to bubble some coolant out today and take another spin...

FJ60 overheating after new water pump

I did tighten up the belts, yep. We only have 2 belts - one goes Alternator - Power steering - Crank, other goes Water Pump - Smog - Crank. I'll pop the rad cap and run it for a bit this afternoon.
