I have similar problem, 1992 Toyota Carina diesel station wagon ex Japan. I've managed to separate the brake hose with female part from the flare nut on the hard line, but can't get new brake hose female portion to accept the non-threaded portion of the flare nut, which seems to have mushroomed...
