I wish I knew. I'm in south Africa and have a 84 LX with striped seats (Ex OZ). All in good nic exept the drivers seat. I'm going to to a ground up resto, to original specs, (which it is almost at the moment)
"Drop the nose of the diff" ??? Not If you have a Double cardin you raize the nose - about 25mm (1") that gives a Idea of just how much without debating on Degree's. With DC joint the diff Flange should be pointing directly at the gearbox out put flange
- 1 deg. (for the load take up).
I had the same problem earlier this year. 1st thing that I did was change to double Cardin. did not help. 2nd lifted the diff angle by 7,5 deg. Sort of helped, at least it was drivable but the vibration was bad on accelaration and de-acceleration. Then replaced the gearbox mounting. Wow!!! 90%...
Thats quite correct. the oil is fed via a +- 4mm copper tube that comes up fron the oil pump, up with the push rods (you can see it if you remove the push rod side cover) runs through the head (just lika a push rod) and fixes to the centre of the rocker.
I have a 72 FJ45 with 155F motor. It's only done 12000 k's in its 36 yr history (was kept in a barn/shed for 29 years) But I got bored and decided to strip it - after all it's just ABC in mechanics - but in South Africa I cant get a Set of std piston rings. Anyone know where I can try.
