Builds A Troopy Finds Its Owner

That was one of many quips to address my questions on issues I discovered on the truck after I took delivery. Most often, any attempts to discuss or reconcile these issues were met with comments about "customers being fussy". As a customer who threw a TON of savings into this build, paid in FULL...

Builds A Troopy Finds Its Owner

It pains me to see others have had a similarly less than stellar experience with "Crushers". While some might have gotten a good end result from him, I can say with all certainty that I did not. At the time I thought it was perhaps a fluke, but this thread unfortunately shows it was not. I can...

    1HZ install into a 1978 FJ40

You're welcome Jeff. Glad to offer some notes. Hoping to get the rear diff e-locker working again and take her out to the Lost Coast about 4.5hrs north of SF at the end of the month. Should be a great run. My wife will follow in our 2010 FJ Cruiser. 33mpg would be a dream. I'd be happy...

    1HZ install into a 1978 FJ40

It is still using the swapped 1HZ motor. The rig itself has been undergoing a slow transformation since it's delivery to me, so unfortunately besides a couple of trips to OEX in AZ, it has been mostly in varying stages of mechanical and electrical upgrades or repairs as time, funds, and...

    1HZ install into a 1978 FJ40

that is a very helpful tip rusty, thank you. :wrench: i was unaware of the ATF versus PS fluid and went only with what wayne instructed me to do when we discovered that it was below levels on our test day. i have been topping it off with PS fluid ever since. the first thing i did upon...

    1HZ install into a 1978 FJ40

no need to feel "insulted" wayne, rather i suggest that you sit back and review the positive aspects i prefaced all my replies with, then take a breath and learn from this expensive and ongoing lesson as i did and am still. i would disagree with your perception that i am picking the...

    1HZ install into a 1978 FJ40

thanks for your input sabre. my turn on this thread is to seek advice from the experienced, and illustrate the (as yourself noted, "landcruisers require ongoing work") the work i am engaged on this rig. some of it is fun, certainly educational thru by doing it hands on, and yes, some not so...

great, thanks for the msg. i'll check my mail box shortly. haven't heard a peep out of ya, been waiting for those manuals you promised to send weeks ago. btw the AC unit info/paper work was missing from the folder you said it was in there when you handed it over, so hopefully its in the box...

    1HZ install into a 1978 FJ40

def a tough call on fg or al tubs. seems like both certainly have their pros and cons. not sure what recourse i have, being in the states and gozzard in canada. from wayne said to me, gozzard is a curmudgeon and his answer to his work was, "...it is, what it is..."

    1HZ install into a 1978 FJ40

my workspace is inside. :wrench: temps in my area is about 50-70 since i took delivery of this rig. been outside 1 day. so no exposure to sun or heat from sun, nor sub freezing either. so far just from my own observations and PMs from fellow mudders, a properly primed and finished sheet...

    1HZ install into a 1978 FJ40

figured out the problem with the wipers. since it wasn't operating in the 2 stages it should have, while the motor was newly installed, 2 wires were crossed and incorrect, so now fixed. :) power steering pump is looking bad too. trying to make determination and may require a rebuild...
