@RAMf1 Thanks for this recommendation! Sorry to hear about your engine.
Top Shop was closed today but I was in the area and drove by to take a look. Very clean shop. There was an 80 and a 40 inside (they have big glass windows on the shop) and a black 100 parked outside (is that the "shop 100"?).
I have a 2006 LC 100 (VVT-i + AHC)
I'm looking for recommendations for good Toyota mechanics in the East Bay Area, CA. Near Walnut Creek or Fremont, CA is a big plus, but willing to consider anyone that's not too far away.
At the moment I just need someone trustworthy for basic things such as...
I did a fluid change on my '06 A750F at 124k mi, using Idemitsu WF available in a 5L jug. I'm at 172k mi now, good results. The A750F with oil cooler runs cool. I've never seen temps above around 140ºF, even towing a small trailer (but not in hot weather).
AT fluid wears out eventually even if...
Does anyone have the correct part numbers for Whiteline bushings for the 2006 MY steering rack? I had made a note of Whiteline W13208 earlier this year. Now I am in a position to order them, but I just checked and can't find that PN on their website.
In January I ordered a set of 555 tie rod...
Seems like an error on the mechanics part. Why would Toyota change a part spec on a run-out model just before the end of production?
Anyone had their steering rack rebuilt by CVJ? I replaced my tie rod ends (555) and it improved the steering but there is still play in the steering rack. I'm...
Anyone else have a reccomendation?
I need to have the tire rods and steering boots replaced as well. I have the parts and I need a place that will work with me and not refuse to install good parts that I bring in (Toyota boots, 555 tie rods).
Shop does not need to be in the city. I'm willing to...
Pretty good video here regarding this:
It seems that for the pistons and exhaust valves, you need to get them above 325ºC [617ºF]. That seems to happen at 5000 RPM but the engine needs to be under load. So it looks like you'd need to do a pull in a lower gear (prob 3rd on the 5-Spd AT 750)...
Still looking for a good Chicago area alignment shop. Someplace that can adjust caster & camber, not just toe-in. Chi-Town did get back to me but did not have specific recommendations.
The shop does NOT have to be in the city. I'm fine with going out to the Burbs. Just want a place that will do...
Great thread, @2001LC subscribed! What's your definition of Italian Burn (I thought it was called the Italian Tune-Up)? In the naturally aspirated straight-6 BMW world, it was 10 minutes above 4500 RPM. But those engines have much higher redline 6500 RPM.
There's a wiki but its short on...
I came to the LC world from the BMW world where overheating and blown engines (on M52/M54 engines) were rampant due to plastic cooling pump impellers and other plastic parts in the cooling system.
The 2UZ does not have these design faults. BUT I'm wondering if the coolant temp gage is...

What was the cost of shipping? That's a relatively large and heavy part to have shipped internationally.
Israeli quality is good, never seen anything from there that wasn't well made.
Tires will be available tomorrow (January 20) after 6 PM. Price is negotiable as long as payment is cash.
I'll get some better photos and accurate tread depth measurements and update the ad after tomorrow.
IF I had the funds, I would certainly consider an LC powered by Toyota's new twin-turbo V6 for precisely that reason. On my wife's VW Jetta, a straight-4, the cost to clean the intake valves was $1100+ at an Indy VW specialist (dealer wanted $1600). I was able to get the BMW N54 straight-6...
