loosing prime in diesel prado. can you help?

thanks. yeah the primer pump is ok. i vacuum tested it and it held. looking further still i have noticed that fuel is leaking past the threads on the overflow screw where it fits into the injector pump body. this then goes up the outside of the screw, into the banjo fitting and out the fuel...

loosing prime in diesel prado. can you help?

anything wrong with fitting a fuel shut-off solenoid close to injector pump on the return side? my thinking is that this would stop the fuel from running back into the return line when the engine isn't running and help keep the prime in the pump itself. wired to a switched live it would open...

loosing prime in diesel prado. can you help?

the fuel is leaking out of the pipe (as it's supposed to when the engine is running) not the actual banjo itself. to me this suggests a small leak inside the pump itself. i have removed the fitting (banjo). it consists of a hollow screw with a spring loaded ball valve inside. it appears good...

i'm loosing the prime in my 1kz-te prado to the point that i need to pump the priming lever on the fuel filter to help it start. i disconnected the filter and vacuum tested it and it's ok. i've also run a gravity feed of diesel straight into the injector pump left it over night and it starts...

awnings off a roof rack suggestions and pictures please.

this is my attempt. it removes completly when not in use and fixes to each end and the centre of my rear roof bar. mines used as a shelter from the rain more than anything. i've found in the past that flat sloping designs collect pools of rain water. of course you may not have this problem;)

    New suspension for my Colorado

looking good. i quite like the rear slightly up in the air look. though i guess it will settle down a little over time/ loaded. what spring combinations did you finally use? your initial post refers to both LC 80 front and rear springs being used in the rear of the colorado. how does it feel...

Prado or Colorado... which one to buy in uk

almost the same vehicle. the prado is intercooled, the colorado not. also the colorado has an electric locking rear diff as well as the centre. i'm not sure that the prado does. in the UK, the Prado is a grey import but IS recognised by toyota dealers. hope this helps.

    whining noise. help please

try taking the top off the banjo bolt and stretching the spring while you're waiting. it will take you 5 minutes and you'll find out if that's the problem straight away.

    whining noise. help please

ah ha! on top of the injector pump is a banjo bolt on the fuel return side which contains a spring loaded ball valve. the spring weakens causing the ball bearing to resonate. i removed the bolt and took the ball and spring out. then i stretched the spring slightly and replaced. the spring is...

auto or manual? how many miles is too many?

hi, i live in scotland and i'm looking to buy my first landcruiser. the colorado is by far the most popular version over here. i'm torn between the auto and the manual boxes, again the manaul is more common. are there any specific problems with either? (i'd prefer the auto). also for my price...
