I heated the cam gear back to the temp it was at when the puller was able to remove it (225 deg F). I then just slid it back into place on the cam shaft with a little tapping from a dead blow hammer to seat it all the way on so the clip would go back on. I made sure to align it with the marks...
We heated the cam gear with a propane torch to get it on and off. Getting it back on required some gentle persuasion with a dead blow hammer as well. Be sure to mark where where it goes in relation to the crank gear and be careful not to rotate the engine while it's off! Hope that helps!

Thanks for the input so far! The clunkyness I'm feeling is not rotational in nature IMO and is not speed dependent. If my steering damper wasn't brand new, I would suspect that... so that might be a clue that the issue is between the steering wheel and the damper. I also went through a very...
Yep, done all of that. Completely rebuilt the entire front end from diffs to knuckles to brakes to springs. I have shims in the front and back to correct my pinion angles after and EMU lift as well. What I'm feeling is not that type of vibration and the steering is not sloppy. It feels like...
I have read a couple of things that indicate there are one or two catastrophic steering failure modes related to the steering box and to the drag link (pitman arm) end. I'm chasing a little shock vibration coming through my steering wheel... can someone tell me what these failure modes are and...
6 degree shims front and rear, plus a balanced DS with new bearings solved my post lift vibrations. I was ready to pull the trigger on a DC if that hadn't worked.
Order #5609 here. Glad to know you are OK and working through the backlog Matt. The trip I wanted my parts for came and went, but there will be other trips. Just need to remember not to put you on any time-critical parts orders in the future. Not an easy feat since many of your parts are...
Yes... I have an '80 and that is how it is configured. I was asking about the exhaust kit coming out with the header. The current exhaust is susceptible to being crushed (where it crosses under the frame to the cat). I was thinking that, once the header is on, I will need to take it to a...
I started jiggling around with stuff more... the rear barn door latch rattles like crazy actually! Next chance I get, I'll have a buddy ride back there and muffle stuff.
