Man I forgot about this thread! I think LAMBCRUSHER is probably correct. For me I convinced the smog guy that the header was a Downey smog legal header, and that cruised visual at least. There were other things I had to do to get it to pass, this turned out to be the least of my worries.

I did, yes. Swapped out the APPS and its been great ever since. I bought mine through Amayama Trading Co. for under $200 shipped. Did some research on Amayama and found nothing negative about them at all. Ordered the part, took maybe a week or so to get to me from UAE. Part was about $154 and...

Dangit, these things (APPS) are expensive! $413 from local dealer, ~$260 online. Guess I have to place an order. Anyone know of anything less expensive? I think the best bet is replacing the APPS and not just the TPS. That is unfortunate because the TPS is about a third of the cost. :doh:

I am making the assumption here that the LX470 and Land Cruiser APPS/TPS is the same part? I know it may not be the same part number, but will they do the same job, does anyone know? I am going to try to get a new one tomorrow.

I'm a HUGE fan of the anthracite coloring. Cant wait to see the wheels done that way. I am contemplating getting a second set of wheels to do that with in the future. Not sure on this one exactly, but I recall friends using MEK to strip color off of emblems before. I think that is what it was, Methyl Ethyl Ketone. I feel i kinda lucked out... My rig has black chrome color emblems.

Cool thread. I just picked up an '02 LX470 2 nights ago. Super clean, but thinking I need to get up there and make sure the sunroof drains are cleaned. Keep up the good work! :D
