r12 low side service port size for retrofit adapters?

Thank you, sir!!! One more question I’m ashamed to ask. I can’t convince myself which port is the high and which is the low. The suction and liquid lines come into a manifold on top of compressor that makes it look like either port could be high or low. Based on the picture above (1992 3FE...

r12 low side service port size for retrofit adapters?

I’m in same boat on my 1992 FJ80. The universal adapter kit fits on the low side (picture left port), but the high side (picture right port) r12 port on the compressor is smaller diameter and tighter thread. Both of the universal adapter fittings are too large for the high side port on the...

    3fe 90 amp alternator?

Folks, My alternator (or rather voltage regulator) went bad. It was putting out 16+ volts. Bought a toyota remanufactured from Toyota Parts Online. I had am 80 amp, but they sent me the 90 amp. I tried to find a Toyota 80 amp anywhere, but no luck. I didn’t want an aftermarket because that was...

P.s. I drove about 50 miles today around town with no issue. It drives normal, sounds normal, and no codes.

    O2 sensor blow out!

Thanks, Rifleman, that’s the route I took. Only issue was a wire brush wasn’t enough to get the material off the threads. I even used a wire wheel on a drill. I ended up having to run a die over it to get the threads in shape for a new nut. The only threads that weren’t boogered up, were the...

    O2 sensor blow out!

I went with Rifleman’s approach. Only catch was the studs had some serious “plaque” on them. Wire brush didn’t work, wire wheel on drill didn’t work. I had to run a die down the studs (autozone tap and die set) so I could get new nuts on them. Size for studs and nuts is M8 - 1.25 if anyone...

    O2 sensor blow out!

Folks, I have 1992 FJ80 3fe, and yesterday I pulled out into traffic and had to floor the gas (which I never do). I heard “thunk” under my seat and then the exhaust sounded like someone drilled holes in the muffler. I pulled over and found the Driver side O2 sensor hanging by the cable (see...

    Steering gear box rebuild

Hey folks, I just used this 'how to' to rebuild my steering gear on my 92 fj80. Thanks so much to the OP! The only spot I got really hung up on was feeding the ball bearings back in. After trying for hours to feed them through the recirculating holes in the piston, I found a YouTube video...

Torn Center Link Boot Repair Options?

Hello gents, I'm trying to get my steering gear out for a rebuild and made the mistake of using a fork to separate the pitman arm from the center/drag link ball joint. I failed at separating the pitman arm from the drag link but did manage to tear the boot on the ball joint of the center link...

Crap! I crossed the cables at jump... no start now.

The fuses in the fusible links, or fuses in the fuse panel? If fuses in the panel, any one in particular? The only EFI i know is an electronic fuel injector; probably not what you meant, right? Sorry for all the dumb questions, and thanks for your response

Crap! I crossed the cables at jump... no start now.

Hey Guys, I left my lights on and when I went to jump it off, I switched the positive and negative terminals (the felt insulators are swapped on my terminals, but I know... I should have looked at the battery markings, not the felt color). A little smoke came off, and I quickly removed the...

What's the best way to hand turn the crank in fj80 with 3fe?

What did your club member end up doing? I tried it tonight with out pulling any plugs and I wasn't man enough to turn it. I'll try it later with a plug out. Just to make sure, all I need to do is put the transmission in neutral, right?
