No, it’s original. Geologic just has a 40th anniversary that spent its life in a garage. He steam cleaned the transmission while it was out. It does look new!
Thanks for the report! With several installed, I think it’s safe to say that the trail has been blazed and this is a good way to fix a worn out shift indicator plate.
it’s not really slots technically, but there is play in the 4 screw holes that attach the black housing (thing that shift plate indicator goes in) to the car. You can shift the black housing forward or rearward before you tighten the screws all the way down. Results may vary, but I have at least...
Bottom end was preassembled, I have no idea what the factory uses on the shortblock. Top end was 15w40 T4 and permatex ultra slick on cams/lifters. It’s fine. It’s just important to use some sort of assembly lube.
Here it is. The N and D slots line up enough to see some of the red indicator. Everything else looks relatively good.
It is much better at night than the previous plate with a big hole in it.
They are spaced differently, that’s what I was referring to as “slots”. If you are careful with the alignment when you reinstall the black housing, you can get the red indicator to show correctly on most of the slots—however it only halfway shows on D for me.
This is a compromise I’m willing...
I finally replaced my shift indicator plate in my ‘97 LX450. It was deteriorating quickly. The original part is NLA, but a different part 35921-60110 fits pretty well. This part is for the 93-95 80’s with the early transmission.
