    Impending starter failure?

I have a 3' piece of 1" pipe on the floor in the back seat. It is named "the Auxiliary Starter", much to the amusement of the teenaged girls in carpool. My starter has been occasionally "difficult" over the past several years. It used to act up every six months or so... then every few...

quick question re bypassing the 4 wheel switch/ solenoid

In a pinch, couldn't one take a barbed union and just hook the two vac lines together, thereby bypassing the switch completely? It would mean full-time 4WD, but if it is Snowpocalypse, then that oughta be just fine.

    O'reilly's, autozone, or NAPA coil

Thanks, guys! When it warms up, we'll see if this puppy will spark. It's been sitting for about 6 years, but the battery charged up fine and has held the charge (shocked me!), and it cranks fine.

    O'reilly's, autozone, or NAPA coil

If you have that coil part #, I'd sure appreciate it. The PO of my '78 put a points distributor in it, and the coil is too old & nasty to pull any numbers off it.
