I'm thinking a poor man's upholstery solution is just to slide a thicker cushion on the top and raise me away from that pedal per Mike's idea. By the way, is it me or does that pedal/transmission mound combo deform your ankle after about 3 hours on the road?

I took a shot of the alleged stop pin. It seems to only be on the outer side of the seat tracks, not the inner side. So, that pin (theoretically) is what pushes up through the railing and stops the slide backward.
Good points. The good news is that it is not worn out nor is it broken. I'm heading across country so I just want to be careful not to screw it up trying to improve it. I have a few of those mis-steps in my past.
I'm going to take a few photos so I can study it up close. Weird angle to view it. I think I can remove the "stop" but I'd hate to exit out the back of the mount into the backseat when I pop the clutch.
Is there some simple way to adjust the drivers seat on an FJ60 so it can be moved back as far as the passengers seat? There appears to be a small piece of metal on the drivers slide underneath that I don't see on the passengers seat. But, there is no obvious adjustment that can be made on it...
