Wanted  Wanted: LX470 / Land Cruiser Rear Wind Deflector

    Gas Tank Rot

I had rot on the top of my gas tank that led to holes causing gas leakage and smells. The part itself is available, but it's pricey--like $1200 or some such BS. My filler neck broke apart during the repair job. Fun times...

Extremely high repair bill on 99 LX470. Does this look reasonable at all?

For what it's worth, I had some "clunky" steering issues when I first got my 2001 LX and had a Lexus dealer take a look when I was in to get an extra set of keys made. Big mistake. They told me that I needed a whole new steering column as there were "parts missing" but could never tell me...

    NON lift suspension options

From my research, the TBs don't matter as much for ride quality when compared with the shocks. I've been running OME TBs and springs with the OEM shocks now and it's much more smooth than with OME all around.

    NON lift suspension options

I just did this on my LX470 after my AHC system failed. I first did the OME 1.5 lift kit (it’s about the same height as the “normal” setting on AHC). I personally found the OME ride too harsh (but handled well) and ended up swapping out OME shocks to OEM LC shocks. Was totally worth it. Feels...

Ride Issues Following LX470 AHC Delete

An update: I swapped out the OME shocks for the OEM LC shocks and it made a huge difference. A bit floaty perhaps and not as good around corners--especially at higher speeds. But much more comfortable.

Mechanic or shop in New England/CT/MA/RI/etc

I highly recommend the folks at Dowling Toyota in Litchfield, CT. Small, old-school dealer that sees many older LC's and LX's. Matt is the service manager and a master Toyota technician. Good people... Dowling Toyota 451 Bantam Road Litchfield, CT 06759 (860) 567-0815

Ride Issues Following LX470 AHC Delete

Thanks all. Very helpful. To be clear: Will I still notice a beneficial change if I just swap out the OME shocks for OEM LC shocks without also changing to OEM torsion bars?

Ride Issues Following LX470 AHC Delete

Yup. Here's what's on the truck: 1 - OME 303001 Front OME Torsion Bars 2 - OME 60001/60000 Front Nitrocharger Sport Shocks 1 - OME 2865 Rear OME Coil Springs (Pair) 2 - OME 60002 Rear Nitrocharger Sport Shocks

Ride Issues Following LX470 AHC Delete

My 2001 LX470 has about 170k miles and the AHC system finally quit on me. All the fluid leaked out and mechanics at two shops advised me swap it out for a traditional suspension system. I went with the Cruiser Outfitters "Light/Medium" 1.5" lift kit with OME parts and took it to my local...
