Hoping someone knows how to remove the shifter on a sm420? I tried removing the pins in the housing but that doesn't seem to be working.

I am looking for an idea of how much power a 1979 toyota mini-truck axle can take. Ideas? I am running a moderately built 400 small block and am worried I will blow up the rear end at first throttle crack. Ideas for affordable axle upgrades would be great too. Thanks. -Nate
