Yes, that is it in a nutshell! The VDO tach is nice but I have never been able to figure out where to put it. If I can get the factory tach to work correctly I will take the VDO tach out.

Yes I used one of Dustin"s adapters. I used a VDO inductive sender reading the pulses off of the flywheel as you mentioned. I have a working tach, but I want to get my factory tach working.
