I think space within the case is what's limiting the ratio. I'm installing the 3:1 gears as we speak and I've had to clearance the inside of the case. I'm not sure you could get a bigger gear in there.
If it helps, I thought I had a broken cable but determined it was not broken. I replaced the amplifier and that still did not fix it. I now believe it's the actual controls or the servo motor but, in the meantime, I installed this, and it works like a charm. Just an old school choke cable that...
You might look into Sunbrella. I have a good amount of experience using it on boats and if taken care of it holds up really well to the elements and is generally waterproof. The downside is it'll tear easier than a vinyl type material.
