Same here...I don't have any worries about them falling out, but you know...OCD lol. At the end of the day, it's just a trim.

I was thinking if I could redo it, I would try to keep the upper trim on and use a dremel to cut it. Then unbolt the bottom and let it fall down. From experience, taking out the clips and putting them back in to hold the upper trim makes the trim loose. Although, I don't know how much more work...

It depends on what sliders you get. If you get GX specific sliders then you might wanna leave the trimming until after you get sliders to get exact fitment. If you get 4runner sliders (fits gx because same wheel base but actually a little shorter) then the sliders most likely won't impede with...
