Finally got around to installing the oil pump gasket and measuring center to center on the pump studs for more accurate numbers for future references. Looks like 43mm to me.

Looks like 1.75” center to center each bolt hole.

I purchased some of the thicker gasket material. May be too thick but I’ll confirm soon enough. Made another gasket with some punches to get a cleaner result.

Pulled the hitch out from the garage after letting her sit for a while. Color matched paint rattle can job. Two stage base and clear coat cans. Good enough for government work. Miller time!

You said there are two gaskets? I only saw one when I took everything apart. Am I missing a second gasket as well?

cleaned up the head and engine mating surfaces for new head gasket.

Started the head gasket job today…

Tore down the FJ80 a bit more for easier install of the engine tranny. Attempted to replace fuel filter while the engine is out but wrong part was sent… oh well. Engine is on dolley for now. Going to replace head gasket and oil pump. And call it good!

Painted the 3FE today. Rattle can blue!!! Turned out okay. Not perfect but good enough for government work! Now got a build her back up and drop her in the FJ80.

More grinding, more cleaning… valve cover almost all cleaned up.

Cracked open the crank case to replace the gasket and clean her up… I know why there are no timing chain kits available! LOL!

First of many parts to be cleaned up before putting them back on the 3FE. Always amazes me how a little elbow grease can bring the parts back to life!
