Crying-treated rotors have been a surprisingly good upgrade for me. The original rotors developed vibration fairly early but the cryos have many more miles on them and are still smooth.
Best way is to just use the temp control buttons to adjust to what you want and let the computer sort it out. I use a CarPlay head unit which means it’s another step or two to get to the on-screen climate controls, but I don’t find myself needing them very often.
The KO2s are stiff and they get loud very soon after installation. I used them for a while because I towed a 5000 lb boat and they did a decent job with that weight on them. The bounce you feel is probably the extra unsprung weight because they are also quite heavy compared to the originals.
Probably so, but I can make you a better deal because I have an extra one. Mine was rear ended, but I had a hitch on it at the time so I have that cover plus the one that came with the replacement bumper. Send me a private message if you're interested and I'm sure we can work something out.
Try calling Toyota directly. It was difficult for me and I'm in the US. I went to the dealer, they couldn't find it at all in their system, then after I told them I had called Toyota and verified it applied to my vehicle, they found it "on the second page" somehow. It did cost me about $90 I...
I’m interested in these but haven’t found many reviews. I know it’s early but what are your thoughts so far? How did you land on these compared to the others?
Having towed a 4,000 boat with a 450 lb tongue weight, I would recommend an E rated tire. This goes against your desire for low weight and fuel economy, unless you go with a lighter weight wheel to compensate. I've had the KO2s, hated them as they were noisy within 10,000 miles, so I now have...
I’m at the same mileage with mine and I’m going with a Dobinsons IMS package for the suspension refresh. Not much lift - 1.4” front and .75” back (OME springs on the back as Dobinsons’ options start at 2”). I installed a similar setup on a 4Runner and really like how it’s a more controlled...
I'm getting close to 100,000 miles on my 2016 and have ordered a Dobinson IMS kit. I'm not lifting much, just 1.4" in the front and .75 in the back. It will be a few weeks or more as some of the parts are backordered, but I've been really impressed with this setup on my son's 4th gen 4Runner...
The ring does not need to be removed for installation or balancing. If a shop tells you it does, go somewhere else. A Costco tire dept tried to remove one of the trim rings on my RWs and stripped out several of the screws. I ended up at the Toyota dealer where they basically destroyed the...
Biggest question mark for me is the rusty rear hitch area. Usually that’s also accompanied by rust in the rear bumper supports and frame crossmembers. Is the hitch the only significant area of rust? Before putting much into cosmetics, I’d confirm that.
My first guess was going to be exhaust manifold leak as that is a common issue in the 100 series and goes away as the parts warm up and expand to close the gaps. But this doesn’t sound like that exactly, this is a little lower and more metallic sounding. Still worth a check of the exhaust for...
