Did some searching on here and could not find the answers I was really looking for. I have installed the Mel's ign kit and would like to remove the whole ballast resitor stuff involved with the old points system. Will this burn up the stock coil due to the increased voltage ? And if so how...

Ok this is making my grey hair a lot worse. Trying to get this thing re-wired with a new EZ- wire harness. I could not seem to locate the igniter on the truck and did some searching on here for a pic and found one. Shows it nicely on top of the coil bracket alonside the ballast resistor...

Thanks for the reply and the pic, that is the info I needed. Does the ground strap to the frame just go under one of the starter bolts or is there a place on the starter for it to attatch ?

Ok lets try it this way... There are three connections on the solenoid for the starter, one (the big one) goes directly to the positive terminal of the batt. There are two more one is a spade connector and the other is for a ring terminal. What are their functions and where do they connect to ?

I have about 600 in the one I got from Rough Country including shipping but its still in the floor of the garage in boxes so I cant tell you much about it. Got to get the truck running before I install it. But I have installed their 4 inch kit on a mid 70's ford and it was great.
