I think you're ahead of me this time! I'm pulling the motor and trans from my '01 4x4, it goes down the road 70-80 no problem (3.89 gears, I think, or 3.55), and uphill at that speed too, even pulling a trailer. With the taller tires on the 80 I am guesssing, without doing any calculations...

I have a 3fe that I pulled for a diesel swap, it had 168,000 miles on it when I pulled it and it ran great! I am asking $500. It has most of the accesories on it. I would also trade for a 60 series split case or a disk brake rear axle. I'll get some pics up soon
