Aah - good news, they are able to get remans (using OE parts) for $112. Looks like I'll be going that route so I can get it on the road and over there for the rotor work. :beer:

Yep, I'm pretty sure there is no "safe" way to do it. I figured I would throw the question out there and see if anyone had a genius method that works... :hhmm: In all likelyhood, I will be replacing the whole caliper and letting the rotor eat up the new brake pad on my drive to the dealer...

I was just looking for a way to avoid getting the caliper on there now and then "wasting" a pad by using it with the bad rotor - on the drive to the dealer.

Well, my lack of keeping an eye on things has finally bit me in the butt. I noticed a slight "grinding" feeling / sound while braking in the LX. After taking off the tire of the suspected side (front driverside), I found out just one of the pads was completely gone! :eek: The metal backing...

After much thought about downloading all the files and compiling my own full electronic copy, I figured I would get a lot more use out of the paper copy. It ended up costing me less than $90 from an online Lexus parts place (the nearest Lexus dealer wanted about $160 :lol: ). It may seem like...

In WA all it takes is to have 4wd to avoid using chains (Also you need proper snow rated tires, but very few SUV tires are not snow rated). They do reserve the right to enforce chains even on 4wd vehicles, but I've never seen this done before. Either way, carry chains. In severe ice they...

I'll be getting a set of Wild Country TXR's, siped and studded, once I track down a set of rims for the LX. We had a set on the 4Runner, performed well in snow and felt solid. They're a good choice if you need studs. :cheers:

Ditto on the OEM switches, IMHO the supplied ones look fine. Just might need to get creative when mounting them... :hillbilly:

Looks like it may be a great rig. I agree that $15k is a little high. I've had been religiously keeping an eye on Craigslist since the spring and I wouldn't call it a "deal", but I wouldn't call it "outrageously overpriced" either. I would say for $15k it should be spotless with new(ish)...
