When the timing chain guides and rail brake the chain slaps on the coolant passage inside the timing cover on the left side of the engine. the chain will wear two grooves inside the cover and eventually through the cover letting coolant into the oiling system.

mine was acting up similar to yours this past december. The problem was the ground wire at the block connection. Is your check engine light on with the key in the on position when it won't start? Mine wasn't.

hey man if your cool with felpro I would have engnbldr send you there head set. I swear they are the same gaskets but way less expensive compared to felpro. I've used both in the past with good results.

If the brake light didnt come on and the brake fluid resevoir wasnt empty, then you're right, no air in the system. That is normal for the fluid level to drop as the pads and shoes wear. Now that your resevoir is full, if the fluid level drops soon you have a leak some where. Have you...

scratch that what i said about ulra belt tighting( normal sould do). i learned from some recent posts on mud about pulleys being worn, which now i think was the problem with my other rigs.

If it were me, i would drop the axle out and take the pan off. three of the trucks ive owned, the PO's had RTV on the timing cover. they all leaked. the 22rte i did a while back, i replaced the oil pan gasket. it was cork. still holding up and no leaks. Droping the axle was intimidating...
