Gas tank building excessive pressure & fuel smell. Dangerous for sure! Why does this happen?

Threads like this are why ih8mud is so fantastic. I’ve had this happen three times to me now in the past year in my 2006 LX (once at about 10K on the trail, once driving 55MPH near Monarch pass, once after stopping in a parking lot after a 5 hour drive— all at 80 degrees plus temp). All...

    SOLD 2006 LX470 some mods

Well, the truck now has another 700 miles or so on it I drove it back to its new home in Colorado. Great truck that has been well cared for, and Martin is a class act. Looking forward to having some fun with this!

    Overheating when idling

Well, I looked at the truck last night a bit more and the fan clutch sure seems strong enough to my gloved hand. Couldn't stop it with a decent amount of force applied, while idling. I then decided to drive up some ramps with my front tires only (to elevate the radiator) and turned on the...

    Overheating when idling

It's a 2002, w/ about 125K miles on it. I changed the thermostat last year (and discovered that the old one was working perfectly anyways). The timing belt and water pump were changed by the mechanic when he did my 90K maintenance at around 100K. In the past, the mechanic said that an air...

    Overheating when idling

I found a number of threads talking about the fan clutch, and will see if I can diagnose it later tonight. Seems very possible that it's the culprit. Since the "bleeding the air out" trick worked in the past, I wanted to try it again but only if I can find the heater water valve obviously.

    Overheating when idling

My Cruiser will consistently start overheating when I idle (or drive too slowly) for long enough. I can drop into neutral, start revving the engine, and the temperature gauge gets right back to the middle within a few seconds. I had the same problem a year ago, and the mechanic said there...

    No heat when idling

Well, I had a mechanic look at the truck today and he said that there was too much air in the cooling system. The drive back was fine but he said he's not quite sure how it got in there. I'll drive it around for the next few days and hopefully won't have any more temperature problems. Best...

    No heat when idling

The coolant level is where it should be. It definitely warms up after driving, but it's unusual because the moment I start backing out of the driveway after idling for 10 minutes the air starts to blow warm. I'm fine with roughing it, but my wife drives it and if we have another winter in...

    No heat when idling

Now that it's getting cooler, we're finally starting to use the heat again in our 2002 LC. I noticed that if I start the car and let the engine heat up, the vents will not blow hot if the Cruiser is idling. As soon as I put the car in gear (or rev the engine in neutral), the warm air starts to...

    Body Cladding

I was looking in the service manual (through techinfo.toyota.com) since I have the same problem on my 'new' 2002 LC, and it had a few tips for removing the outside body moulding. They say to heat the moulding to between 104 & 140 F. Then cut the adhesive tape with a knife. Then use a taped...
