Any diagnosis tips would be appreciated. This thing is driving me nuts and it's embarassing, too.
It sounds like a loose heat sheald or thin metal. Only happens while excellerating. I've been under there poking around a dozen times and have removed everything removeable.
Short of strapping...
It's a Manik. Make me an offer... I don't have the tail guards but I'll throw in the hood and sunroof wind deflectors if you can use 'em. -JD
BTW, I've also got a '91 FJ80 w/ high miles for sale if anyone's interested.
Update...
OK thanks to the expert advise from mud members I was finally able to get the oil pan off using the bottle jack against the frame. Scraped the old petrified gasket off the pan and engine but unfortunately the gasket is fused to the front and rear arches and there is no real way to...
Thanks Guys. I used the jack method and it popped right out. Getting the pan off has proved to be the real PITA. Got one side loose using the bottle jack. The other side will not budge. Thanks again. -JD
I understand on an 80/3FE the tie rod will need to be moved out of the way in order to get the oil pan off. How do I get the tie rod off? Do I have to have the special tool? Thanks!
I bought a head unit out of a '96 from a fellow mudder. Unfortunately, the connector does not match my '91. Is there some kind of adapter or clever way to make it work?
Any input on aftermarket oil pan gaskets? I know a lot of posters are all about getting parts from the dealership, but I hate patronizing most of those creeps. Any other options out there?
