    1kz-t vs 2l-te

LOL, ended up with a 99 Mitsubishi Challenger with the 2.8L Diesel. 180K/Km's. Great condition and the diesel mechanic was impressed with how well it had been maintained. Got it for a steal and didn't have to finance it like I would have had to the Prado. It goes very well, far better than the...

    1kz-t vs 2l-te

Agreed. I am from the USA and have been living here 14 years now. I won't be going back... :D

    1kz-t vs 2l-te

Yep, it is. If you think that's ugly, then you might not want to move to NZ - these things are EVERYWHERE. LOL. They have outsold all other 4WD's in NZ for a very long time. Not sure the new design will do as well. It looks like a bloated Highlander. That new design (which looks the same in...

    1kz-t vs 2l-te

FUGLY. ;) I am looking at this one: Toyota Prado VX 2002 for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand right now. I just wish bloody Toyota would offer a V6 (3.5L+) Diesel in their Prado's! The entire engine range is underpowered and over-stressed, that is the problem as I see it. The cars look good...

    1kz-t vs 2l-te

The problem is that those are not common in NZ (were they even imported here?) and I also want a later model vehicle than that. I would prefer something around 2005 or newer. Plus I love the 2002-2008 Prado shape. :) Remember, we drive right hand drive vehicles (drive on the left hand side of...

    1kz-t vs 2l-te

Ok, new question. 1KZ-TE or 1KD-FTV (i.e. old vs. new Prado engine)? I know the newer motor makes more power and uses less fuel but how reliable is the newer engine? Also which is easier and cheaper to maintain? The KD seems to run crazy high injection pressures. I guess the fuel delivery system...

    1kz-t vs 2l-te

Yep, agreed. It's for sale now: Toyota Hilux Surf 1990 for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand and I will be surprised if it fetches 2K. Guess not all Toyota's are bulletproof then? Guess even they produce lemons, lol. I just want it gone so I can move on with life. Now looking at the later...

    1kz-t vs 2l-te

Ouch, my 2L-TE just crapped itself. 1990 Surf here in New Zealand. The motor is rooted, I know that much. Just debating whether to even bother replacing the engine or just part the whole POS out or sell it to a wrecker or online via auction. A good 2L motor is not easy to find used here in NZ...
