Trying to remove tranny - first time to do this.

Thanks, I have the FSM and the Haynes manuals. I have spent several hours reading the forum on how to remove the transmission. I just can't seem to figure out the true disconnect for the lever. There are points on the front and the side that are controlled by the mechanism.

Trying to remove tranny - first time to do this.

Having fun pulling the tranny and transfer to change the rear seal. 2 PROBLEMS. First when I pulled the rear drvieshaft, 1/4 cup of oil was trapped at the differential end. Should I change just the oil seal or bearings as well? Second, trying to disconnect the transfer shift lever. I removed...

Hot air tube stove for headers

Having problems in the Montana winter with my FJ-60. Headers and weber with K&N air filter & fluid heat riser. Man-a-fre suggests to go back to the original air cleaner and hook up the hot air tube to get warmer air in during warmup. Suggested I make a stove around the front header tube...

Dropping oil pan, anything I should do?

I just took mine off an 84 this weekend. Had to take off skid plate and replace half the metal in the bottom due to rust. While you have it off I highly recommend you take off the skid plate. To get it off, just remove the lower bell housing cover, 7 screws. The screws attaching the oil...

Wolf Steel Quarter Panel repair parts???

If your oil pan is leaking at the bottom, DO NOT TRY TO REPAIR IT. I used 100 feet of mig wire trying to build one back up. The metal guard on the oil pan is just a rust trap the way it is designed. Next time I buy a new pan and fill the void around the guard with rtv. QUESTION, has anyone...

Help!! Getting an 84 up after 5 years storage

Thanks for the advice. I did add fresh gas with stablizer. I put it in everything around here as Montana gets a little cold. Got someone coming over tomorrow to check the float level. I can't see gas in the little window and he said I should be able to see it. I let you know how it goes.

Help!! Getting an 84 up after 5 years storage

Hi Everyone, trying to get an 84 FJ-60 back on its feet. Everything is stock. Setting in storage for at least 5 years with 160K on it. Put on a new fuel pump and filter as it was not getting a good flow of fuel to the carb. It will crank with a shot of ether instantly and run for 30 seconds...

I just bought a Land Cruiser...(and Fairey question)

Fairy oil leaks I had a Fairy on an 83. I could not keep the fluid balanced between the tranny and the OD. The oil flows from the tranny to the OD and overfills. Then it looks like the OD is leaking. I had a set of special filler plugs with a tubing connector made for each plug. I ran a...

    Weber 34/34.....Testing the waters

Had problems when I first switched to Weber. Had a local shop reset the float. Has ran great ever since. Went from 11 mgp to 15/16 driving the same way. I love the Weber but getting it set up was a pain.

    Cruise Control

I had a similar unit on my 83 FJ-60 You see the paint wear on the drive shaft immediately below the speed pickup? There should be a small magnet mounted there. Just us a small magnet and attach it with a plastic tie strap. I bet that is your problem.
