The new bearings were a huge improvement on my rig. The wah wah wah never completely went away. I had a Toyota Master Diag Tech drive it. He claimed tires noise, so I called it good. The truck was awesome, until we got hit by a drunk driver in January of this year. Rear-end collision-...
I replaced my front engine mounts on my 97 1FZ a few years ago, but did not do the rear mount. I can see quite a bit of lateral movement in my transfer case shifter when I take off from a stop and when I accelerate. I’m also getting the sense from driver seat that it needs replacing. Can the...
This is great info. I’m getting ready to put new bushings on my rear sway bar and end links. I’ve got an AHC (AHC disabled) LX470. Is the only difference in these parts from an AHC vehicle to a non-AHC vehicle the rear sway bar and its D—shaped bushings? I’m sure my rear sway bar is original...
Maybe 10K miles on the SPC UCAs. I bought them last Feb and I think they’ve already issued another revision since the set I bought- but, I could be wrong.
I’ll investigate them more when I rip them out to install the Freedom UCAs that I bought today. I put a dial gauge on the driver side upper ball joint a few weeks ago. Pushing in on wheel I could see over .100” of play on the dial.
Fortunately, essentially rust-free undercarriage here. So, today I loosened all my body mounts pretty easily. Retorqued them all to 35-40 ft/lbs. Still get a pop with slight body articulation and occasionally on turns in town. The pop feels like it’s right in front of me- maybe to my left...
My DS mount is popping on occasion. I was able to loosen the mount with a socket. Bushing is original and doesn’t looked cracked or broken. Now trying to decide if I should cut a shim out of a 1/4” thick of rubber industrial belting and try to shim it in somewhere. Not sure where to shim...
I’m going to try to tighten my body mounts on my 100 today. Specifically the no 2 front body mounts. Is the tightening process as simple as putting a socket on the lower nut and tightening?
That’s not a bad idea…thanks. I’ve bought quite a bit from Amayama and IMPEX in the past. I know OEM would be best. However, I’ve got the ~1.5” OME lift springs in the rear, and front OME torsion bars cranked up a bit. Truck looks fairly level, but not quite- I’m at max end of recommending...
I’ve researched Freedom and can’t find anything bad. At ~ $450 a set, how can I go wrong? Cheaper than SPC and less complicated. Caster correction w/out complexity. No $500 core warranty claim w/out question- only to go down same path in less than a year. Has anyone heard anything bad about...
