I did the same to a Daihatsu Diesel I had and I just used to count slowly to 5 and that was plenty to glow enough for a start in freezing below temperatures I count to 7,,, worked a charm and plugs lasted.

OEM standards???? So tell me what is the OEM standard on a piston because the rods are toyota genuine 1HDT $196 ea trade price. the pistons are guaranteed to be stronger and of better quality than OEM std 1HZ non turbo pistons, I can't fully comprehend how it could be inferior. I checked...

Check for stray current in the coolant system. Any auto elec can do this for you. It doesnt take muck to turn it into a radiator destoyer. Twice as bad on aluminium. I have a HZJ75 same model and I bought the aussie desert cooler triple flow std core for around the 500 mark and its been terrific.
