Any suggestions for a shop that will either rebuild or install a reman'd engine? Or would a V8 swap make more sense or be more cost effective?
In the event that I find a rig with a dead or dieing engine.
I forgot to mention - I'm in Castle Rock. While I am without my own 4x4 at the moment I have a few friends down in the C-Rock are with Jeeps that I can catch a ride with, so I will be watching out for rides that you guys put on. If anyone is willing, I would love to ride-along and see what an...
Not in an 80 Series yet, but on the hunt for one
I'm new to all things LC related. I come from having been a Jeep XJ (Cherokee) guy for a long time. I've had several stockers and finally got the 4x4 building bug last year. I built one up as a family wheeler and it ended up getting stolen...
Coming from a Jeep XJ (Cherokee) going above 33's was the threshold on them. If moving up to 35's more money and axle work is necessary.
I think I am leaning towards the 80. In addition to lift and tires, I intend to add gears and at least a rear locker if I start out with an un-locked...
I was leaning towards a 4" kit on 35's, but after running Moab Hill in the 4 door Jeep JK Rubicon on a 6" lift and 37's I'm reconsidering.
I've read about the 4" and 37's combo, as well as 6" and 37's combo on the 80. Sounds like a 4" and 37's combo might work on the 60/62 as well? Albeit a...
I YouTube'd some Penrose videos and ummmmm...... That is out.
Moab Hill and Spring Creek type terrainwill be frequent trails I intend to hit, then Holy Cross maybe once a year.
I ran Moab Hill and Illinois gulch this weekend with a buddy of mine in his hopped-up and mod'd 4-door Jeep JK Rubicon. For those of you that have run Moab Hill, how are you 60/62's and 80's built?
I am without an LC for the time being, but will be looking soon (well okay I'm looking now, but...
...what is the optimal set-up for an 80 to take on trails like:
Illinois Gulch - Moab Hill?
Spring Creek?
Holy Cross?
I live pretty close to Rampart Range so that system including Illinois Gulch will be my most frequent trips. The tamer/moderate parts of the Penrose system (Patriot, Liberty...
The posts by War and Chris cleared it up the lockers situation for me. On my XJ I put a lunchbox locker both front and rear, so I am well versed on what locking does...but just now stepping into the FJ80 world and hearing that some actually have selectable full lock had me wondering how it was...
WarDamnEagle - thanks for the answer - that is exactly what I was looking for. So when looking at Fj80's I need to make sure that they have 2 lock knobs/switches....one for the T-case and one for the axles - correct?
I check the FAQ first - which lead to my follow-up/clarification questions. It talked about factory lockers but not exactly how they work. There was also mention of 4.10 and 4.88 in the FAQ, but no mention of which is most prevalent.
So at this point I am still a little unclear about the...
I am currently in a Jeep XJ...or at least I was until it was stolen 2 weeks ago. So now I am looking into getting my replacement off-roading/hunting rig.
On the XJ it was easy - throw in a lunchbox locker front and rear and it was good to go.
I keep reading about a "center" locker on the...
