Your earlier post sounded like you had the 12" muffler. Did you swap 12" -> 14" -> 16", or was your first muffler the 14"?
Does 16" sound much different than stock?
Thanks for this info. Having the door refuse to close during freezing temps has been a real pain.
To add to this thread - For anyone afraid of drilling a hole, no worries. Adding a small rubber grommet will make it look good as new afterward. I used a 3/8" drill and capped it off with a...
Getting coolant on a belt can permanently ruin the belt, causing noise even after the coolant has dries up.
After having this happen to me, I'm now always extremely careful never to let coolant spill on belts when doing service or repairs. If it does, I flush it off immediately with water.
I agree with the new rear KYB shocks, but otherwise it just looks like it has been poorly pressure-washed underneath (thus explaining why some parts are clean and some are dirty). I'd be surprised if this thing had ever been off-road, other than the beach. (Actually seems to have more rust than...
Be aware, I think these dealers no longer ship brake rotors. I just tried ordering rear rotors for my 200 from Decatur and from Lewis of Topeka. Both gave error messages that the part is pickup only. I had successfully ordered some rotors from Decatur last September, so maybe something has...
Here are the steps I followed:
1. Wash the area well
2. Sand down rough spots and loose peeling paint with 2000 grit sandpaper.
3. Wash and dry area
4. Wipe down with isopropyl alcohol to help ensure no old wax or oil is present
5. Mask off. I like to use the big plastic sheet drop cloths from...
OP, my somewhat new-to-me '99 LC began experiencing the exact same symptoms recently. Normally starts almost instantly, but it was taking several seconds of cranking before starting. Seemed to be related to cold air temps, as it would have the symptom if parked outside for several hours, but not...
Got compression numbers or borescope images on cylinder 7 to assess cylinder damage? (Although I guess compression would be hard to check if the threads are gone.)
I've been wanting to upgrade my LC200 exhaust, but the risk of drone has been a big concern. Been there, done that with a previous V8 4Runner and aftermarket exhaust drone, and not interested in repeating that mistake.
I tried working with a local well-regarded custom exhaust shop on this, but...
Here's a nice and very cheap upgrade for those of us with the silver key fobs that look like they should have an IBM or BellSouth logo on them. (1990 called, and would like its key fob back.)
I bought this item and it fits/functions perfectly.
