The cabinet was designed using a CAD program called Rhino. Then I had it cnc cut. I would definitely go that route again, I was able to get a level of accuracy that would’ve taken ages otherwise. The floor was done by creating a template from 3mm MDF and then copying that to 12mm ply designed...
I got my sides, floor and first cabinet dry fitted. I missed the height of the floor when measuring clearance, so now the vent interferes with the back of the cabinet.... now to decide to notch the cabinet or notch the vent.
Today I glued up and finished 1/2 of my drawer setup for the rear. I'm really happy with how it came out. The long drawer can be accessed by opening the back or by the two hatches on the top.
I completed sound deadening the inside front, and installed a coded lockbox with a spare door key (that won't start the ignition). I've already locked myself out once, and could see myself doing something stupid when I'm in a more difficult situation than being just down the road. It's in a...
Probably why it takes me too long to get anything finished! I don't have any covers for the wheel wells, so they'll be something I see all the time. That's the only reason I bothered trying to keep them fairly smooth. I won't be as particular in the front of the cab!
I'm pretty positive the butyl is waterproof, but I could see how you could get voids under the edges of the sheets that would trap water, particularly where there are compound curves. Hopefully I haven't created more problems than I'm solving! The product I'm using is from Second Skin.
No, there's still a gap. I'm planning on a plywood floor on the top parts of the ribs and will keep the void for air to get in and out. I plan on doing a limited camper build in the back and I figure completely blocking moisture from reaching the metal isn't going to happen no matter how hard...
More sound deadening. I cut strips to sit in the valleys of the ribs, but the cut edges leaves exposed butyl that sticks to all kinds of things. I'm going to go over the seams and edges with aluminium foil tape next. I hate things that just attract dirt. I tried quite hard to get as few...
