I bought my 97 with no cats, factory muffler. I cut off the resonator when I installed the rear bumper. My son has new cats on his 96 and no muffler. His truck is way louder, annoying. Mine sounded stock before I got rid of the resonator, now is a little loud outside the truck, don't hear it...
This is somewhat common In the 100 series. Lots of info there, never heard of it in an 80. System looks very similar, surely not the same though. If you can get long, thin needle nose or hemostats in there to twist the broken piece or remove it you should be able to get past the shift and...
Finally got all of the parts to rebuild my rear locker. This side of the locking ring has a little wear...the teeth should be squared off like this side.
Just as a situational comparison, my 2000 with 230k was hit in the rear a few years ago. Other guys insurance looked at it and wrote me a 4500 check to replace the upper hatch (tire carrier flexed and dented the upper hatch) and replace the a/m rear bumper.
How many miles. Living in the northeast, is the frame rusty? Seems like it would be not to difficult to put back together. I would fight the insurance company to pay out to repair if it is a solid, decent mile truck. If it is typical of northeast trucks, might be a good opportunity to have...
Paint is in very good shape, no fading. No accidents, all original paint. A few very small door dings in the side. It does have a small dent in the right side of the rear bumper. I believe the car is easily a 9 as it sits.
I am selling my 1998 Tacoma. It is a 2.7l, 4wd, auotmatic with manual windows, locks and manual locking hubs. The truck has 156k on it and is in excellent condition. I bought it from the original owner and have only done a few things to it. Replaced the cracked exhaust manifold with the...
I'll bet @paflytyer can answer that. He had to drive home from HIH a few years ago on battery power. On an unrelated note, you say your truck has 120k on it but the history shows 300k. Don't believe that it is acceptable to reset the odometer if the engine has been replaced. That is a...
Sorry, I figured I didn't explain the swap well. On the vgrs lx, the vgrs unit incorporates the rag joint on top and attacheds to the bottom of the main shaft. The splined end of the vgrs unit sticks out of the engine side of the firewall. That attaches to the intermediate shaft that turns...
No, you will need the upper and lower shafts. I did this to my 05 a few years ago. The two shafts are different lengths for the two different systems. VGRS is short upper and longer lower if I remember correctly.
Edit: The parts sites show the intermediate shaft and all of the pieces...
