Good point. Forgot about having to get underneath to get at the plug and filter.

    K&N FIPK Questions

I installed it on my Mustang. I say it was a 5. Maybe even a bit easier in the LC since there's more room under the hood.

    K&N FIPK Questions

There is some question also about whether a cold air intake will even provide any power increases in today's computerized fuel injection systems. The MAF sensor is tuned to consume a certain amount of air and the standard airbox is designed to accommodate that need. Adding a less restrictive...

    K&N FIPK Questions

I have read the same thing about oil on the MAF, but I think that comes from people "over oiling" the filter. You're supposed to only oil enough to change the color of the filter. I had a K&N drop-in in my previous car and never had an issue in over 90K miles. The FIPK in my Mustang has only...

    K&N FIPK Questions

I have one in our Mustang convertible. Only noticeable under WOT, and even then it's a distant whooshing sound. I can't imagine it would be that noticeable in a LC given how quiet they are. The Mustang is no comparison from a sound deadening and with the soft top.

Mods for towing "heavy" trailer? '04 100 LC

POWER mode delays the shift points so that you rev a bit higher to keep the RPMs in the sweet spot of the torque curve.

    Ode to an amazing vehicle...

Thanks all for the comments. Tad, I think that was what I was trying to say in my write-up. Our 'Cruiser has really become like part of the family. I know that seems corny when we're talking about an inanimate object, but it has sheparded us through so many phases of our life. Not sure if...

Mods for towing "heavy" trailer? '04 100 LC

Also I towed my boat (pictured above) from the Chicago suburbs to Branson Missouri and back a few summers ago. She was challenged going up the hills. Had it floored going uphill doing maybe 45mph a couple of time. Hotter than H E L L during the trip too, but aside from HORRIBLE gas mileage...

Same here. Biggest challenge is the rear springs as you can see from the attached picture.

    Ode to an amazing vehicle...

We purchased our brand new 2004 LC in December of 2003. Now I wasn't a newbie to the abilities of this vehicle as our trade-in was a 1998 LC that we had bought used about 4 years earlier. Now there wasn't anything wrong with our '98, but it had a few issues crop up in the short time we owned it...

    Wifey's new Ride (medic83's)

Yep. Our previous ('98) had the rear locking diff, our '04 does not.

    any 200k daily drivers?

Not quite at the miles your looking at, but to chime in ours 2004 has 140K miles. We bought it new. Had some early issues with the navigation system screen (there's a TSB out on it) and the backup camera. Both of those were at around 40K miles. Since then NOTHING. Mechanically the rig has...

    multi-display problems

Apparantly this is an issue only with the 2004 model year LC and LX. After that year, the part was redesigned. When I ran into this I was out of the factory warranty (40K miles), but within the extended warranty. The Toyota Care warranty wanted the SM to either have it repaired or replace it...

    Post your high-mileage 100-series!!!

101,000 on our 2004 At 40K the Nav screen displayed an error that essentially disabled the Nav, audio, rearview camera and the HVAC. THere was a known TSB for that one particular model year. Replaced under extended warranty. Fortunately I bought one because the part alone cost $5,000...
