Yeah, I agree with everything @pb4ugo wrote. There should be a return line port on the tank regardless of the year model. My guess is that when you drop the old tank you'll find a metal tube going into it with a short section of rubber fuel line attached that has a bolt stuffed into the end and...

For what it's worth, I run a Wix 33040 fuel filter with the return line routed back to the tank. Didn't have your problem, but I did have vapor lock on my SBC 350 FJ-40 and it took care of that.

I know I'm late to the party, but I've been running this setup for close to 20 years and love it. I agree that it's important to make sure the oil levels are correct, but as with many, it only took one time of me taking the transmission plug out and having oil shoot out to make me a believer...

We are working on an FJ55 w/what looks to be factory air. The fan and compressor controller switch is a wheel, not a knob and doesn't work. By passing it makes everything work fine. First, anyone have experience with this? My '79 FJ55 had factory A/C but I don't remember what the switch...

Makes sense. I figured there had to be another way, but by the time I got there I was so confused I just did what I was told. That said, everything works, even though the hazard lights have this weird stutter when I turn them on. Kind of like my third girlfriend. 👍

No, they were pretty easy to contact and tried to help. Prob worth noting that they get the spectrum of customers from cool, understanding and handsome (like me) and pissed off , screaming and smoking hot (like mi amor) so on any given day you may be talking to someone who just got their a$$...
