removing body lift kit on 97 fzj

I did get #10 out. Had to loosen 7 out of ten to get it. Once again, I happily jacked on the rocker seam. This is how a radiator change took me over a week. Taken individually, none of this was hard, but a lot of it was unexpected. cheers, david

removing body lift kit on 97 fzj

does 9 out of 10 count? i was wondering why that one bolt was short. the two by the radiator were easy with a telescoping magnet and a long enough extension with a loosey end. i don't know what it's called. it's not an articulating adapter, though i'm sure that would work too. the ones in the...

Where to get body mount bushing kit

@JonChimpo how did the bushing job go? I just pulled a body lift kit out of my 80. looks like I need many of those bushings replaced. Also, reading through, I was surprised that there were supposed to be two nuts, cause my bolts all only had but one lock-nut on each.

@lelandEOD upon further inspection, it actually is a 1" lift.

removing body lift kit on 97 fzj

hi LD, you know, it was a new one to me too. but, yeah i see you ETA. It didn't occur to me at all that it would be a problem. I'm not sorry to see the body lift go. I think they might have done it to get clearance for big off-road bumpers, but I traded those to @mesa man for some sweet factory...

removing body lift kit on 97 fzj

hi mudh8ters i put my nice new toyota radiator in my fzj yesterday. it fit a lot better than the chinese one that was in there. at least it fit the factory configs better. you know, the holes for the bolts lined up and all that. when i went to install the shroud, it got weird. the fan was too...

Well, as it turns out, I was wrong about everything. Got underneath again today, changed the oil and rechecked, wouldn't ya know it, the drive shaft to the front diff. I think that was the first thing suggested, and I did check it. Grabbed a hold of it and shook it. It was solid. I did not LOOK...

Good info @ppc I'm going to rebuild. will order kit this week. Hope she makes it until the parts come in. I put another half tube in the left today. The right appears to have had more grease. I hear it coming from the right. Will do both of course.

@duece71 I agree. I had a guy do the seal because I am full time in college. I've got the summer off though. I bought new bearings and asked him to put them in while he was in there, regardless of condition of existing. He didn't do that. Said the bearings were fine. I was disappointed. I don't...

I hate to think that about the guy who did the work, but there is no evidence of grease leaving the knuckles. So, you must be right on that. Eh, difficult conversations ahead. Thanks @ppc

Got it. Yes, I put half a tube in each side yesterday and drove home. Bought two tubes so will recheck today and add if necessary. I got the grease gun from walmart, so it's a PITA but it works for the steering knuckles. Thanks again @Kernal

@Kernal Thanks again, this is all great stuff. The seals I had done were inner/outer bearing seals front and rear, and the ball seals. This video is going to be vital when I have to rebuild it all because I rode them dry for two weeks. There was about half an inch of grease on the screwdriver...
