Been a longtime between updates. Starting the front coil conversion. I'm using a GQ patrol front axle. It measures 1593 from hub to hub, so I'll need an 80 rear axle up the rear plus the diff ratio in the patrol axle is 4.10. Making new spring/shock towers from scratch, I'll be running 80 series...
My front suspension donor car arrived last week. I'll be using the front diff and coil radius arms etc on the 60. Track will increase by 50mm. I'll update as I go
12ht share the same block, its bolts straight in. No glow plugs to worry about just the vac connections to the shutoff valve and tweaking of the wiring
Looked okay, pity it wasn't done properly, is that a panhard link on the passenger side or is the picture reversed? That's a boo boo right there. What axle option was there for GQ centre Tojo outer? Full custom axles I'm assuming?
Cheers for the info. For some reason I thought you used 80 radius arms up front. I like the radial bush better to, but I'm assuming adapting stock 80 arms is not an option because all the angles are probably wrong.
Really enjoying this thread. Awesome work. Out of interest, how hard was it to fit the 80 arms to the patrol diff? Also, did the shocks line up to the GQ diff without mods? I'm putting a GQ diff into a 60 and I reckon the GQ spring buckets are to low, I'd like to run a longer coil and shock...
What a build! In regards to the patrol diff, how will this go with vibration? I was always taught to only run one angle on driveshafts that utilise universal joints. I.e if you run 3deg down on the transmission you run 3deg up on the diff pinion to stop the issue with the velocity change...
Works really well! I ended up with adjusting the spring tension so extra fuel starts at 5psi and I also screwed the compensator in 1/4 of a turn richer than the factory fuel screw adjustment for the base adjustment. I'm running a .82 exhaust so needed a little excess diesel down the bottom to...
